Hungary Match Interrupted as Spidercam Falls Onto Pitch

(MENAFN) A suspended camera system plummeted onto the pitch during Hungary's international friendly against Kazakhstan on Tuesday, sending a jolt of alarm through Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen before the match continued without further disruption.

The spidercam — a cable-mounted unit rigged above the playing surface — broke free from its suspension and crashed to the ground trailing smoke, according to local media reports. The equipment struck the pitch just meters from a cameraman stationed near the touchline, in what could easily have been a far more serious incident.

Remarkably, no injuries were recorded.

Play was briefly halted as officials assessed the situation, before the match resumed and Hungary went on to claim a 3-1 victory over Kazakhstan.
